IMD Issues Orange Alert: Anticipated Rainfall Across Multiple States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several states, forecasting significant rainfall and thunderstorms from April 2 onwards.

States Affected:

  • Madhya Pradesh: Thunderstorms and gusty winds expected on April 2.
  • Maharashtra: Light to moderate precipitation accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds likely until April 4.
  • Gujarat: Rainfall anticipated on April 2.
  • Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka: Weather disturbances expected until April 5.

This weather pattern is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra, combined with moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Hailstorm Advisory:

The IMD has also predicted hailstorms in the following regions:

  • Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada: April 1 and 2.
  • Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, South Interior Karnataka, Telangana: April 2 and 3.
  • North Interior Karnataka: April 2 to 4.
  • Jharkhand: April 3.
  • Odisha, Coastal Karnataka: April 3 and 4.

Heat Wave Warning:

In addition to rainfall alerts, the IMD has issued heat wave warnings for:

  • Saurashtra and Kutch: April 2.
  • West Rajasthan: April 5 to 7.

Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions against extreme heat.
